Today was the first day of the state fair and half price day so we didn't quite get done everything that's on the schedule, but that's what Fridays are for. I'm having a hard time focusing on this blog post today because of all the comments flying around about Mrs. Hall's post. Some people have taken her comments to an extreme that I don't think she meant. I will probably have to write my thoughts down so I can focus. Anyways, back to the present.
Religion - We had co-op today and got a late start on breakfast because we have no milk so religion got moved from its proper place. Instead of doing it when we should, we watched the video of Joseph Smith and the angel Moroni in the car. I will have the kids write down their thoughts and summaries tomorrow when Chicklette also finishes her last picture for the Joseph and Hyrum booklet.

Math - Racer finished his math in the car after co-op. It was a review of factorization and multiples. I am so glad he gets math concepts quickly. Chicklette still needs to finish her mental math addition sheets. I did not expect her to finish both sheets, but I did think she would finish one. Add that to our catch-up work for tomorrow. I'll have Racer work on Study Island in factors and multiples.
Co-op - At co-op today Racer and Chicklette watched a chemistry demo to show how atoms move through the air. The teachers put vanilla or cinnamon in balloons and blew them up. When they were blown up, the kids found that they could smell the scents in the balloons. For the American geography part of co-op both classes talked about Washington D.C. and the compass rose. Sunshine and the Bubbers are all in the nursery class and we had a lot of playtime.
After lunch, we picked up school again. We talked about Delaware, classified the state animals - horseshoe crab, gray fox, Blue hen chicken, and the weakfish. We also read about colonial times and discussed some of the medicines they used, Sabbath activities, and laws that they had.
Science - Science consisted of reading more about water including the water cycle and purification. We defined hard water and talked about water softening like the water softener in our basement.
Writing with Ease - Chicklette got her Writing with Ease done since it was just copywork. However, we need to correct it tomorrow since we don't put capital letters in the middle of a sentence. Racer and I just didn't get to his Writing.
Piano - Racer got his piano done this morning and it sounds like he'll pass off his song on Tuesday. Chicklette is getting better at her songs, but I need to make sure she can identify notes on the page and is not just playing from memory. Maybe I'll have her do a note speller game on the internet on Tuesday at her lesson.
We had dinner early and ran out to see the Fair. A good time was had by all. We got to watch the bronc riders, the kids got to go on one ride. We marveled at the depth of a sheep's wool and the piglets swarming around the mom to nurse. We got to see one of the owners break up a couple fights between two pigs who both thought they were starving.
