We've finished school and all the babies are still asleep. Maybe I can get this post done before they wake up. Wouldn't that be exciting?
Religion - Today we watched the video about Joseph Smith's First Vision. The kids drew a picture and wrote down some things they remembered from the story. I wish Racer would write more. He still does the bare minimum that he can on anything that involves writing. I think he wrote two sentences and when I told him that wasn't enough, he wrote one more. Chicklette narrated a lengthy account to me though.
Math - Both Racer and Chicklette finished their math fairly quickly today. Racer worked on factors and got all his problems correct. Chicklette was practicing adding ones, tens and hundreds to different numbers. She got them all correct today too. Friday we will review with a worksheet and activities out of the teacher's manual. Maybe I'll have Racer review factors on Khan Academy. While the older two sped through their activities, Turtle and I had a reading lesson. He's doing pretty well but for some reason, he has a hard time remembering the /r/ sound when it's in a word. We'll keep working on that.

Science - We worked on our hovercraft project today. I had the kids get a bunch of different materials to build the hovercraft out of. Racer made one out of Legos that actually worked. Chicklette brought in some egg cartons to use, but they didn't work at all. Racer also tried to make a hovercraft out of a box, but that one didn't work out either. Sunshine got in on the action too. We should have tried the plastic bag too. We'll have to do that tomorrow or next week.
Spelling - We had time to do spelling today because our co-op doesn't start until Sept. 5. Racer was still doing the /j/ sound. We discussed the rule for deciding whether the /j/ sound at the end of a word will be spelled with dge or ge. Chicklette practiced the piano until it was her turn and then we worked on the two sounds of c. C says /s/ before what three letters? E, I Y!
After chicken lettuce tacos for lunch, we went into the living room for history. We reviewed our Fifty Nifty United States song and then I let the kids watch Wakko's States and Capitals song because they love that one. We cut out the Statue of Liberty mini-book from Road Trip USA and glued it into our binder. Then we read through a book on the Statue of Liberty.

I would have liked to watch something on Netflix about it, but Netflix has removed the three documentaries from streaming.
Latin - We reviewed our five vocabulary words and the prayer. We also reviewed the structure of the Latin alphabet, vowel sounds, and dipthongs.
Writing with Ease - Chicklette's Writing with Ease assignment was a narration from the Pinocchio scene in her book. Racer had two dictation sentences. In them, we talked about plural nouns and the rules for forming a plural noun.
