Today is a beautiful, windy, slightly rainy day. I'm trying to keep Fridays a little lighter in the terms of school because we have some other activities going on on Fridays so today's post may not be quite as long.
Religion - We did our scripture memorization and then I had the kids review what we learned this week. I asked them to tell me one thing that they remembered from this week. Racer told me a little about the First Vision and about how Lucy Smith prayed that her daughter, Sophronia, would get better. Chicklette told me about the sore on his shoulder that Joseph got. She also remembered that after the doctors tried to remove that infection, it spread down to the bone in his leg.
Math - I didn't put any math on the schedule so I could better gauge how the kids were doing with the amount of math they had. All they had to do today was Xtramath.
Latin - Racer lived up to his name today and moved quickly through his Latin worksheet. He got everything correct. Chicklette took her time and had to be redirected a few times. While she was doing her worksheet, Turtle and I had another reading lesson. He needed lots of encouragement. For some reason he keeps getting the long e sound and the /r/ sound mixed up. We'll have to keep reviewing. He keeps forgetting to hold out the sounds so they blend together too. It's a good thing we have 100 lessons and we're only on lesson 19.

Physics - Racer finished the hovercraft project while Chicklette was still working on her Latin. We didn't have any plastic bowls, but we did have foam cups. I was surprised, but they actually work according to the principles we discussed. Over the next few weeks, we will try different materials to see what the best hovercraft is. So far the hovercraft with the biggest hole on top seems to work the best. Both the kids did well on their quizzes. I was a little surprised that Racer was able to tell me two of the main components of air - oxygen and nitrogen.
Language arts - Both Racer and Chicklette did lesson 3 in their grammar books. Racer and I reviewed how to make a singular noun into a plural noun. Chicklette and I talked about nouns also, but we talked about people. Mother, father, aunt, uncle, cousin, and grandfather are all common nouns. In Racer's spelling we talked about the tch phonogram and the dge phonogram. He got all his spelling words correct.
