What chaos reigns in the hearts of children! I walked up the stairs today after dinner and found a pair of shorts and a shirt, half-folded, outside my door. Of course when I asked who they belonged to I got an empty stare. After deciding that they probably belonged to Turtle since he wore that size, I went to put them back in his room. I walked in to a heap of all of his clothes and several of the babies' clothes on the floor. Again, a blank stare when I asked who did it. Finally it came out that Turtle watched Sunshine and Bubbers #2 pull them out of his drawers. So, we had a folding and putting away party. Chicklette, without being asked, sat right down and helped me fold this mountain of clothes and Turtle put his clothes away without any whining or collapsing. On a related note, he might have too many clothes.
Religion - We did our scripture memorization while we were cooking breakfast and then Chicklette did a craft with the scripture we just started memorizing - Doctrine and Covenants 25:12. Racer was looking for his lost library card. He concluded that it was well and truly lost and so he got himself a new one during our library time. I'm a little embarrassed since Chicklette and Turtle lost their library cards only a couple weeks ago.

Math - We corrected all of Racer's mistakes from the assignments that he went ahead on and then he worked on Xtramath and Khan Academy. We really like their new progress bar. Chicklette and I practiced measuring with feet, inches and yards today. We've been working on meters and centimeters for the past few assignments.
Library - We found out that our children's librarian is moving to California. We will miss her. We've really liked her book selections and she's gotten to know our kids pretty well.
Physics - We read about Friction Foilers today and summarized what we remembered in our notebooks. We talked about lubricants in general and lubricants in your knees. We also talked about bearings and how friction creates heat.
History - Our state for the next two days is North Carolina. We already sampled some Krispy Kreme donuts last week while we were down south so we are set on that. We listened to a Northern Cardinal's song and looked at their bright red color. Chicklette was able to find the state capital of Raleigh on the map and then tell us what the coordinates were on the page. I was a little impressed that she could turn around a concept that we had only talked about briefly. We've practiced finding the state capitals using coordinates in our atlas, but I didn't know she would be able to find the capital and then tell us the coordinates.
We also read from A Pioneer Sampler. I think it's going to be a worthwhile book. My only quibble with it is the children don't always speak very kindly to each other. It may be realistic but it's nicer to read about kind words. It's got projects in it every couple of stories too so I am hoping that my kids will remember it and get something out of it.
Latin - The kids just made flashcards today. The vocabulary for this week should be pretty easy. They are all proper nouns and so the derivatives are pretty self-explanatory.
Writing with Ease - Racer got to do a dictation passage today which included three sentences. I just realized today that he didn't know he was supposed to almost memorize the sentences, or hold all the words in his head, to write them down. I'm not sure how he thought he was supposed to do it before but today I caught him trying to write them down while I was talking which makes it so he can't remember the last sentence or phrases.
Chicklette listened to a poem about work for days of the week. I knew she would remember Monday was wash day, but I didn't know if she would remember Tuesday for ironing since I don't know that she has ever seen me iron. She did remember though. It wasn't till we got to about Thursday that she forgot what household chore was associated with that t
