No, I'm sure that not every day will be numbered on this blog, but hey, it's only the second day of school! Today the kids did great with staying on task. Chicklette only needed to be redirected once or twice on her math and Turtle got a reading lesson. We stayed on schedule and got all our chores done and pretty much everyone was happy most of the day. And I still forgot to get a picture even after talking to Racer about it.
Religion - We talked about the Plan of Salvation and why Joseph Smith was important. Started memorization of the first verse of "Joseph Smith's First Prayer." Racer and Chicklette made a Plan of Salvation poster that they can show DH.
Math - Racer worked on place value and Chicklette worked on adding ones and twos, tens and twenties to different numbers. Chicklette also did some place value work. Both kids practiced their math facts with Xtramath.
Science - Woops, ran into a snag here. I didn't prep the night before so although I had the materials we needed for our experiment, they weren't ready. They're ready now to go for tomorrow. We'll be exploring whether cold air weighs more using a balance scale.
Language arts - We interrupted our day for our weekly field trip to the library. When we got back, we raced through lunch to get back to our books. Racer found the third Harry Potter book at the library and managed to finish it today.
Piano - Both Racer and Chicklette had a lesson today. Chicklette had some trouble remembering her notes so I will have to review with her a few times this next week. As promised yesterday, Racer got to work on some note speller games on the computer.
Latin - We made flashcards for the five Latin words on our vocabulary list today. Ambulo, toga, luna, deus, via. Look them up and consider yourself edumacated for today. We started a ring that will be full by the end of the year of Latin words.
We interrupted our day again to listen to a presentation by My Tech High. They were explaining to us how they work, how to use Canvas, and how to do reimbursements. We tried to log into Canvas, which Racer and I were able to do, but there's nothing there yet.
Writing with Ease - Racer had dictation today. I said a sentence to him several times and when he could repeat it fairly well, he wrote it down. We had to work on commas because he forgot to add them in even when we talked about them, but he spelled nearly everything correctly except village. Chicklette got to do her first narration exercise. She did okay, but I expected her to do better. Still, it's her first time and I'm sure she'll do better as we go along.
History - The library still didn't have my holds in. They are getting a new catalog and sorting system put in. If we don't get our holds by next week, we will either start our Road Trip USA or find a different book on Leif Ericson and still start Road Trip USA.
